Browlifts
The forehead and eyebrow area is often the first area to show signs of aging. Drooping brows and heavy eyelids may make you look scorned or sad. A forehead or eyebrow lift is one of the most dramatic cosmetic procedures to have done to the face. It is the most effective way to restore an open, pleasant appearance to the eyes. As we age, our forehead muscle tone decreases and gravity pulls the forehead down on to the eyes. This causes the eyelids to bulge, and the eyebrows to hang over the eyes resulting in an angry scowl appearance. In the forehead and eyebrow lift, the muscles and skin are altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and reduce the frown lines between the eyebrows.
A browlift is done as an outpatient procedure under twilight sedation. There are several different surgical approaches to the browlift. The traditional or "open" approach or the more newly developed endoscopic approach. It depends on your specific needs which technique is best for you. With the open approach, an incision is placed along or just behind the hairline. The endoscopic approach uses very tiny incisions behind the hairline and a fiberoptic lens connected to a camera and television type monitor is used to perform the procedure.
Browlifts are often done in conjunction with eyelifts but can be combined with any number of other cosmetic procedures such as facelift surgery or laser skin resurfacing to further enhance your overall appearance.
